I have been using a HR monitor now for just under a year. Having completed two scentific treadmill tests for (AT),(Ant) Vo2max etc I decided to get one and use it. My test results revealed an Aerobic threshold of 170bmp and an Anaerobic threshold of 190bmp
The questions I have is regarding both.
Firstly when on an AT run which is 3.15-20kpace (so the tests indicated) for 15k I struggle to get it over 170 as an average. Do I need to push harder on these runs to be getting any benifit? (faster kpace?)
Secondly in sessions when I have to be running at Anaerobic Threshold I again find it very hard to get it to where it should be. It only just hovers over 180 as an average. This means I'm still running aerobically on what should be an anaerobic Threshold session does it not? Also as soon as a rep has been completed my HR drops dramatically to under 130 within 30 odd seconds.
Any ideas on this? What could be going on? Its puzzling me!
(the HR monitor is not faulty as I have tested it on other people and both tredmill tests done over the two years were accurate)
