hiya!
im a first year sports science student and im interested in going on to study sports psychology full time but im wondering is there much of an industry for it in ireland or is it on the rise etc?
ive always been interested in psychology and sport and think a career in this would definitely suit me and id enjoy it. Also is it often combined with anything else eg sports nutrition or would a team have a seperate nutritionist?
oh and finally, is there much of an industry for exercise psychology ie the general public and not just teams?
thanks for taking the time to read this these are some questions i really need answered. :)

Have any of you guys checked out Dr Patrick Cohn's website at peaksports.com? Its got quite a bit of information plus a few free ebooks on the subject.
Its also interesting to see how he has made a web business out of his expertise.

I've some comprehensive information about careers, with more of a UK perspective, on my site www.mentalskills.co.uk. It could do with a bit of an update, but should be quite useful.
I'm a chartered psychologist and always happy to talk. PM me first.

Im in the first year of studying sports science national diploma at college (equilivant to 3-A levels) and believe me it is not easy, 100% of the 2 year course is coursework.
30% Practically Based
70% Theory Based
I would say, it is the best course to start of with if your looking to go in to spots psychology it covers the motivational side of sport, learning / teaching phases, athletes lifestyles, fitness testing (sort of components of fitness particular sports require) etc etc etc. The only boring side to the course is that it also covers alot of the GCSE science material bullsh*t.
