Hi
I ruptured my ACL in May and im booked in 4 surgery in 3 Months..... Im wondering if I should go ahead with it or not...

Im currently able to run 2-3 miles without any pain, and doing weights at the gym to try and regain my muscle tone.
I have to admit that speedwork is my most important asset when playing football and when trying a few sprints- my knee feels none to celver really

I guess if i didnt have surgery then iam very likely to have further problems in the future and my knee might not be able to take all the sharp turns and sprinting invloved in soccer/ football.
I also know that surgery is risky tho and there is a chance i could get by without getting it done
just wanted to know what peoples thoughts were on this matter -- im 22 by the way

Hiya I work in an see lots of problems with guys who play football and have problems with their ACL. Although using weights will strengthen the muscles around the knee, if your acl is very stretched then its probably gonna go completely and you may suffer worse in the long run. I had a friend who had his acl done under surgery and thankfully is ok after rehab is now running and playing football again. it's amazing what the surgeons can do nowdays. Yep it means having time off and resting, but in the long run it could be worth it. Try having some sports massage to help plus keep doing your stretches, and maybe think of taking a homopathic remedy such as rhus tox 30c it might help. and don't forget support that knee!

:)

Agree with the above. I'm at the 6 month stage after an ACL rupture and, barring the odd bit of swelling, I'm well on the road to playing again.

Best wishes
