I am an active 22 year old male who has been suffering from back pain for 2 years. It started severely in one spot but now my back seems to hurt anywhere that gets aggravated by a specific movement. I had a cortisone injection in the initial area of pain which stopped the pain there but made the other areas more noticeable. I lifted weights intensely for 5 years and rarely stretched properly. Recently while running I have noticed that my left hamstring is extremely tight and it feels like I am running with a slight limp. It feels as though my left leg cannot extended fully when in stride. I am about to begin "back school" therapy for my back problems but do not know what to do with my hamstring. I feel that my back/pelvis are out of alignment but do not know what type of doctor to see about this issue as a whole.

This may seem obvious but

This may seem obvious but you didn't mention if you have tried stretching your hamstring as a solution? Back pain is often related to tight hamstrings or other muscles of the lower extremity because they pull on your pelvis and spine, causing stress to these areas (I think you were getting at that when you said you feel out of alignment). Good luck with back school!

Hi
I agree with the last post. Hamstring tightness can definately be a factor in back pain. However, if you feel out of alignment, I would suggest you visit a chiropractor or osteopath. They can hel with alignment through manipulations and mobilisations etc.
