I have spent the last 2 days on my computer, trying to find a site just like this!I just want to chat with others who are going thru what I am going thru, to keep my sanity. I am 62 yrs old (female). I slipped in the shower Tuesday night June2,2009. It was immediately obvious, I had a serious injury. Fortunately, my husband was home and heard the thud and my scream for help.I laid in the bath tub for several minutes, unable to move my left leg, trying to figure out HOW was I going to get up. I was unable to move my left leg. I had visions of the EMTs lifting my naked body up & out. Not a pretty site. I had my husband get me a shirt at least and by the time he did that, I had somehow managed to move enough so He might be able to manuever me out. We were able to get me out and to a sitting position on the toilet. After 10-15 minutes the pain and swelling had diminshed enough, I thought I had just a badly sprained my ankle, so I continued with what I was doing...getting ready to go to my Grandson's High School ball game. The team has made the State play-offs and he was scheduled to pitch. I hobbled off to the game and managed to stay 5 innings and had to leave. The pain and swelling was intense. Off to the emergency room and xrays and to my surprise, what I thought was a severely sprained
ankle was actually a severely broken ankle, that would probably require surgery...to be determined when I saw the Orthopedic Dr in 2 days. Went home with a temporay knee to toe cast and pain med. Saw the surgeon and it was recommended that I have surgery, with metal plate & screws, the next day. The surgery went well, but all down hill after that. The 1st night of surgery was horrible. The oxycodene didnt touch the pain, and what was worse is it made me anxious...like panic attack anxious. I couldnt sleep, couldnt get comfortableand I hobbled around all night with
first the walker, and then the wheelchair, from oneroom to another. To shorten this long story, I did get different medication (Vicadin), which dulls the pain. I really dont have any appetite, which is too bad because friends and family are making us great meals!my question to all of you, do you or did you have these anxiety attacks and what can be done to alleviate them. I'm sure the cause is the pain & discomfort, but knowing that vicodin is addicting, I am hesitant to take them too frequently. My computer has been a late night friend, but not until finding this site did I think I wasnt going crazy and would never get thru this!
After reading all the posts, I know I am in for a long haul. How do I get thru it daily. Right now, I just want to get thru day by day. I have great support from friends and family, but they have not experienced the anxiety. I am stressing over Thursday, when the temporary soft cast comes off and the plaster cast goes on, which will make me feel even more restricted and the anxiety attacks worse. Help me get thru it please....anyone?

Hi

I read on one of the posts about some oil to get to massage on your foot and ankle to loosen things up, but now I can't find it on here. Does anyone know what kind of oil it is? I now have a walking cast after 3 weeks in a hard cast and my foot is sooooo stiff.
