Hi, i didn't actually break my ankle in a sporting accident but i have been searching for forums for a while now to talk to people with similar injuries. I was involved in a car accident 17 weeks ago and had quite a severe fracture to my ankle. I got an opperation done on this at which a few screws were inserted. I was in full leg cast for 5weeks and then a below the knee cast for a further 4 weeks. Once this was removed i was partial weight bearing and going to physio for 6weeks. The movement in my ankle is almost back to the same as my good ankle and in some aspects it's back to full movement. Since last week i have gone down to one crutch and full weight bearing. I can walk unaided but if i was going a long distance i would probably need the crutch with me. I still have a slight limp when walking as i am still a bit weary on putting my full weight on my bad foot.
My foot still swells up and goes a purple colour at times. I do not need to go back to see my consultant until 7th July but will continue physio. I asked my physio 2days ago about walking in high heels again and she said i definately will be able to but i never asked her the time frame on it. I know i won't be able to wear them full-time but it would be nice for a night on the tiles :)
I'm just looking for a bit of advice on how others got along with getting back to normal and getting back into high heels?
