Fell in Turkey was told I broke my Fib, Tib and two bones in the ankle. My ankle was turned almost 90 degrees. They manipulated this without drug relief and I was put into a cast up to the thigh, and flew home 3 weeks later. On my return to the UK I was told that I had only broken the Fib and twisted the ankle although to me the x rays from Turkey clearly showed breaks in the ankle, but was informed that they were poor quality. I was then told that I need a screw in the ankle even though it wasnt broken. When I went to outpatients I was informed that no screws were used and that they just examined it under anasthetic. I was placed in a walking boot and discharged with no follow up. The fib is still very painful and I cannot put full weight on the ankle I am walking on my toes. When I enquired as to whether it should still be in plaster I was told no it will heal on its own. It is now 7 weeks on and I am still walking with a frame. When I last saw the consultant I actually talked to him in the .corridor I didnt even get as far as his office. Is the pain in the fib normal after this length of time i feel i am no further forward, i am reluctant to ring the hospital as i dont want to come across as a moaner, but i am now back on pain killers every 2 - 4 hours

Hi
You're not a moaner. I think this is awful treatment. Can you go to your GP?
I think that if the x-ray looked like the Tibia was fractured, but they thought it was bad quality, then they should have repeated it to check. They don't seem to know what they are doing. Kick up a fuss!
