I have inadvertently posted this to another topic so I am putting it up again here, for comment. I have separated my abs. with about 2 to 3 fingers separation. The doctor tells me it is due to poor recovery from gall bladder op. (vertical incision) and subsequent overexertion and exercise. It can be repaired by surgery. Has anyone had experience with this condition and the operation? Any advice or comments? The surgeon tells me it is a common problem but there is little on the net about it. Thanks for any assistance given.

This is a common problem with woman after child birth. I had never come accross it before in anything else, but it makes sense that it could happen a number of ways. When I have a post natal with this problem, we continue training the abs while physicaly holding abs together with both hands. It does seem to correct itself after awhile with training. I guess it depends on the serverity of the separation. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thanks Ozsue, mine just gets worse the more strain I put on it so I will probably get it stitched up. There is not much blood supply to that member (the albi) and it often doesn't heal well, they say, after operations. I was just hoping to avoid the general anaesthetic and the knife.
