Can you help?
I've had a soreness in my left heel pad for about 2 months now. It's affecting my training a lot.
I'm now retired and train 6 days a week twice a day. I know, your thinking "too much" but my training is diverse, splitting up my weight training, stamina training, speed training (plyometrics) karate, core training, exercising at other angles to balance stronger muscles. I've been training this way for 2 years and have had no ill effects till this.
So this heel pad soreness' is frustrating to say the least, and I have a Dan grading coming up in June.I don't remember injuring it) I am on my bare feet a lot so I suppose there is the possibility I've come down on my heel at some time without it registering. Its sore when I put weight on it first thing in the morning or if I sit a while. I have noticed that when sitting and I place my toes on a thick object, heel on the ground, that I can rise and put weight on my foot without any soreness.
Do you have any ideas on this type of injury?
Regards
Ernest

Are you hitting it with RICE, if not do so straight away, you may of injured/bruised something but you also may have Planter Fasciitis which will respond to the icing, taping and massage to the sole of the foot as well as the calf and peroneal muscles.
Hope that helps some.
Have a good un, cheers John Murphy

Thanks John for your input, I have already tried RICE, massage.
But the strange thing is I went to the crosstrainer on Sat. passed and done 1/2 hour at a fair pace of 70rpm. After doing 3/4 hr. karate basics, then another 3/4 hr. of upper body workout which included cleans which as you know uses and stretches the muscles of the feet. I was so fed up with the sorness, so I thought blow this here goes. Thinkin I was going to pay for this foolishness. But here I am Mon. morning and when I got out of bed I hardly knew it was there. I also must say for the passed few days(when sitting) set my toes on an object and kept my heel on the ground.
Thanks anyaway
