Monday I was lifting boxes at work and after work lifting weights.
I did 1 set of Benchpresses and when I got up to stretch for the next set I got a sharp pain in the front of my chest just below/under the middle of my left collarbone.
I stopped training and thought nothing of it, no further pain that night but when I woke up the next morning I got the sharp again, tingling in my fingers and then after just 5 minutes a dull ache at the site of the pain but no more sharp pain.
I week of rest no probs, then 1 dumbell lift and the pain is back, with the dull ache extending down my arm, pins and needles in 2 fingers, heavy feeling in arm but after 5 min no sharp pain.
Any idea what it is and how do I treat it?
Thanks.
Steve

Was it a heavy weight you werent used to, and do you warm up b4 gym.
and warm down and stretch after gym, low reps or high reps do you do, if you were using a high weight with low reps u werent used to dont do that. especially if you dont do gym regulary.

When I first started I didn't warm up or down, but I do now.( lesson learnt)
I do 5 min on a cross trainer and I also do full stretches before and after the workout and inbetween sets .
I still have the same injury and still don't bench press but do Bent knee pushups instead.
Still managed to put on 1cm biceps and chest.
After 1 mth with no lifting and the injury didn't get better I went back to lifting and just worked around the injury. After the last mth lifting the injury is actaully a bit better or I am just used to the pain.
I tried 1 benchpress with 5 kilo's and the pain was back 2 hrs after the workout, so I just don't benchpress anymore and am very careful with shoulder workouts as well.

sounds like it is likely a nerve thing. go see a doctor and suggest that. an mri would probably show whatever it is

Many things may be wrong, you really need someone to check it out thoroughly. Could be an ANT Scalene syndrome, pec major fascial invovlement, diaphragm irritation/spasm or could be a minor avulsion injury of the PMC into the clavicle. Impossible to tell without actually seeing you. Get it checked by someone trained in neuromusculoskeletal injuries, not a GP.
PS. I doubt tere is any neuropathology.
