Good Site. I've read quite a few of the broken ankle posts. I miss-stepped off my stairs and had a high impact 3 foot fall onto my twisted foot. The pain was excruciating, the swelling and bruising immediate, covering the right side of my foot. I elevated the foot and took pain pills and applied ice right away. It might be a really, really bad sprain or a break. I was hoping for the sprain so I applied R-I-C-E at home for the next 6 weeks. Rest(crutches), ice regularly, bandages(compression) and elevation. Trouble is now. It is week 7. There is only *one* comfortable position now that the swelling and bruising have reduced significantly and that is lying on my side. Can't do that forever. In fact my limit is about 5 hours. Other than that I am in pain. I can wiggle my toes but it doesn't feel great. I tend to hold my foot in a certain position. My foot is not at a 90 degree angle to the leg. It's kind of more a 100-110 degree angle that is sort of comfortable. And I'm still applying R-I-C-E. I had a bad experience at the local hospital last year so I'm afraid to go. So I'm not really sure if this is a sprain or a break. But it seems to be taking an awfully long time and why is the pain not getting better as the swelling and bruising reduce? Has anyone had a similar experience to me?
