for the last 6 months i hav had an inflexibility problem in my right knee. although i can still run on it it becomes hard to straighten out when walking or jogging afterwards i also have pains around the knee cap - i have been doing intensive quad excercises for 6 months but the syptoms persist - any ideas as i am doind Ten Tors in may and need to be injury free

First that should be checked out...
but you may have imbalances bet the quads and hams that are causing the problems. Most of what I've read say there's a 3 to 2 ratio between the two.
Make sure you're doing the exercises *properly*!
I recommend the front squat to start and make sure you're able to go down all the way with your butt at or close to your calves.
