After 6 months of being on crutches, mis-diagnoses and waiting for MRI and surgeon appointments I've finally got the date for my 1st lateral release procedure( both knees need to be operated on due to asymetrical femurs.)

My surgeon is sadly a man of few words and I have only had a 5 minute chat with him in regards to the procedure (the rest of the 15min consultation involved him looking at my MRI scans and exclaiming I was the most severe case he had seen - joy!!)

I have had to use the internet to find out more about the operation and have now scared myself witless due to the large number of horror stories in regards to this op.

My surgeon has not told me of any risks or that the knee's could be made worse, only that there is a 70% success rate.

I know that everyone reacts differently to this procedure but I really need help in deciding if I should go ahead and what the consequences would be if I didn't.
Also has anyone else had both knee's operated on? How long a wait between each operation and how long before I can get back on my snowboard?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!

Cheers

Tess
