Hi!
I'm currently suffering from lower back pain which has increased and increased.

I know of no certain incident that has caused such pain.

I feel sharp pains around my right lower lumbar area which sometimes spread across to the left and come forward to the front of my hip through certain movements. Sometimes I feel pain on walking and am now finding running off-limits.

I am currently being refered to a physio as my sports therapist is stumped! He has carried numerous tests out, and massaged the area which is extemely knotted and the muscle form has improved but is not sure as to the injury. My back is equally balanced and no area is more developed to the other.

Having had to stop rowing, playing netball and basketball my only refuge is in swimming at the moment and a few strengthening exercises, any ideas as to the problem?

Sorry if it is a vague description, any help would be appreciated.

Thannks Maddie -(

I posted a response about back stuff in 'physical best back from injury' in this forum which wil lbe worth looking at>

With no particular incident occuring, then the problem could be environmental - progressive degeneration of the back and surrounding musculoculture and joints.

The biomechanics of back pain have never been fully understood and there is still a lot of subjective views on particular areas. Biomechanical assessment may be worthwild. U may find the problem is not to do with the back but the chain of joints are all beig affected due to a mechanical problem.

I have known back pain sufferers to have simple insoles fitted to re-align the knees which has stopped the back pain almost immediately. You have definately done the right thing to see a physio.

Thanks

Thanks everyone for your help.

I have found out what my problem is after some excruciating pain and a trip to A&E!

Apparently I am suffering from sacro-illiacitis.....acute inflammation of the joint adjoining my spine and pelvis.

I am now carrying on towards my appointment with a physio and have some anti-inflammatories and pain killers.

Hopefully this is the extent to my problem and I can begin to get better.

Cheers Guys! Maddie X
