One way to test for muscle
8th Mar '10, 4:57pm
One way to test for muscle imbalances a visual assessment is one way _look for signs like:
* Forward head tilt
* Shoulders that sit higher or lower than the other
* protracting of the shoulders (round shoulders)
* From a frontal view see if onside of the pelvic bone sets higher than the other
* From the side view look for anterior tilt pelvic, an excessive curve in lower back, or bending forward at the waste when standing straight
* From a side view look for posterior tilt pelvic no curve/flattening of the lower back.
* Then look at gate cycle (how a person walks).
One thing I find most important is to have knowledge of more than just the primary muscles (mirror muscles). Know the difference between phasic and tonic muscles and how each respond to dysfunction and a little about the properties of the two. Know the agonist, antagonist, and synergist of the muscles. Know how nerve innervates muscle (you don't have to be a rocket scientist).
