Hi there guys have been reading here for a few weeks and wud now like to join in!
3 months ago i broke my ankle( spiral fib fracture) out on a night out,am a healthy and keen footballer,,now the impact this has had on my life is massive! im a self employed electrician so no money for 3 months and during the low times ive been really low
The reason for my lows is the constant setbacks ive suffered,,,when i broke it the docs said oh ur fit and healthy 6 weeks u will be sorted,,,wrong! six weeks they said virually NO healing had occured and to recast in a partial 20% weightbearing cast( with blue boot/shoe) and come back in 3 weeks ,,,3 weeks still no healing being told its strange how somone my age ( 25) isnt healing and that now you should have an op to pin it the doc says so in my head im preparing for an op when another senior doctor looks at it and says,,no go away and FULLY weight bear for 4 weeks withou crutches he even said do u think u can walk unaided!!!!! NO!!! i said after 10 weeks of crutches how silly!!
SOO 13 weeks now and ive been fully weight bearing for 4 weeks now taking calcium tablets the lot as apparantly im a slow healer!!
Been walking without a limp in my walking cast and blue shoe for 2 weeks and can even put all my weight on one leg through my broken leg,,,i can bend my toes right up and wiggle foot with no pain,,i can kinda twist my foot in cast and find one spot that hurts alittle..im off for check up tommorow and its either healed or they will def insert a pin,,,my leg does throb a little bit in the cast but i guess a lil bit of pain is to be expexted? now im fearfull that they will say no healing again and an op,,,does any1 know if this is true and whilst i know the fib only takes 10% of ur weight could i really put all on one leg through it if it was still broken?? and does anyone know if moving my toes and foot to relative comfort is normal? and what does anyone think my next step would be ,bearing in mind ive been told its an op now if it is not healed?? many thanks
