Returning after injury/time off

I am soon to return to playing amature rugby, I injured my hamstring when I was 18 and after a summer of trying to regain fitness I tried out for my univeristy rugby team. I found I still was suffering effects of the injury after 7 weeks trying to recover. For the last 4 years I have not played rugby and the only exercise I got was rounds of golf. Now I want to play rugby again but I am VERY unfit. Is there any advice other than taking it slow? I have begun jogging again and I cycle to work.
