I am a 45-49 track cyclist and recent state medalist in my age for BMX. Unfortunately I recently crashed heavily in a regional BMX race suffering a sub scapula liver hematoma. My diagnosis at the moment is that I am not allowed any physical activity for 6 months and may not be allowed to ride again for up to 15 months.
Was looking to see if there are athletes out there who have suffered similar damage to their liver and how they recuperated from the injury.

Liver injury

I think you mean a subcapsular hamatoma. That is an injury to the liver where blood accumulates under the liver capsule. How long it takes to resolve depends on its initial size but I would expect a small one to resolve in 6 weeks and certainly the liver tear that caused the bleeding will have healed in that time so the timescale you were told is excessive in my opinion.
