Hi everyone. I have struggled to shake off an injury for over a month now. I have had pain in the tops of my feet - ie apparently soft tissue injury, which seems to be getting better over time, but is not completely better. Pain present only if foot is flexed - eg as in doing pushups, or lunges.
My training consists of running (am training for an ultra-marathon) with lots of cross training as well - in particular stationary cycling (spinning). I did change shoes about 2 weeks before I first felt the pains. It started on my right foot and a week later was on my left foot. I had also had a niggling hip injury on my right side that was over about 1 month before this.
I tried ice treatment, heat treatment and then alternating ice and heat, but nothing seemed to help, and eventually gave up. It looks like things have slowly got better by themselves, without me cutting my training schedule.
Is this most likely a bio-mechanical / shoe-related problem or an overuse injury. Also, would like to know what treatment should be for injuries like this.
Thanks!

It may sound stupid, but this sounds like your shoes are too tight. Try lacing your trainers more loosely, or if the pain is underneath a stitched part of the trainer, get a new pair. If you live in the uk try sweatshop, they deal in your sort of problem and will most likely be able to sort you out with a trainer that won't hurt your feet, if that turns out to be the problem. Hope that helped, Dan
