i've been watching tennis lately and i saw one or more player eat a banana during the break between the set, i know it's to give them energy, but from my knowledge it's not good to consume any food during physical activities and if necessary the athlete can take in liquids such as water or lucazade etc! is this not true??

banana's give the players potassium which they loose from sweat. This potassium prevents cramps. Potassium can also be found is sports drinks such as gatorade.

Banana's also contain a pre-cursa for saratonin which is a relaxing hormone. This may help with calming the player down.
The carb content is also important too.
