I have heard two different ways to do block starts. The first way is to stay low, of course, and wide at first then as you become more straight up your steps become more narrow until you are in running possition. The other way is to start out low with narrow steps, one right after the other, and then you come more straight up with the body and the feed stay narrow.
If anyone could help, please do. Any other tips are welcome.
Thanks

Get your hands on explisve running by Michael Yessis. It is a great resource in to the best techniques for starting, maintaining, accelerating. I would suggest slightly smaller steps when first stepping out of the blocks as you want more ground contact to generate more force while starting and accelerating. You should not purposely decrease stride length but with technical assistance you will be able to find the right position for you

As im taught by my coach, and watching people like Michael Johnson, Jeremy Wariner, and Darrold Williamson the start out with narrower steps then increase their strides at about the 15 meter mark line by just a tiny bit. Really through the rest on the race you should keep your strides the same as you did when you got into youre form position after the start.
