Hiya,

With the positive tests of the Amercan Cyclists and now Justin Gatlin is it agreed that doping is commonplace is top level sports?

I have always been very cynical about people who have claimed this in the past.... but looking at the stats I think i'm becoming one of them!

I have always defended professional sports from the thought of them being rife with drugs, but are we the naive ones here ???

High level sport is rife with drugs. The concoctions of drugs that people use today is phenomenal. Unfortunately, drugs have been as much a staple of the Games as gold, silver and bronze. Since sport and drugs have always coexisted - look back at history.

I don't want to disclose my sources. However, examine the recent evidence in athletics. Justin Gatlin, Tim Montgomery, Marion Jones, Dwaine Chambers.... And the anti-doping world is catching up?? Nonesense, how did they find out about THG?

Twenty+ positive US athletes that participated in the Sydney OL have never been named.

If this is true then the thought of fair competition goes out of the window. It seems to be one of the greatest athletes you need ability, technique, the right psychology and a very good doctor !

Is there any way that this can be stamped out of the sport?

We must give the testers more powers maybe ?? or are they so far behind it wouldnt matter??

yes that is a complete idiotic thing to suggest... for starters it would mean all records up to this day would be redundant.
A complete farce

So why arnt the 20 odd americans from Athens going to be named??

Now Floyd Landis's B sample has tested positive. I gave up on cycling long ago, the sport is far too tarnished to enjoy it without thinking about drug abuse.

As someone who loves watching athletics I find the continual "outing" of drug cheats devastating. I am in absolute awe of these athletes and to think that they are drug cheats riles and saddens me.

You just cant believe anything.

I would also suggest tp level sport is rife with drugs and non of the athletes are being 'fooled' by their competitors. It is sad that to be at the top one must now take drugs. For the simple reason of honesty and a more level playing field an olypics where you can take what you want and a 'clean' olympics might not be such a bad idea :?

Ohuruogu has also been handed a ban for missing tests, this in my opinion looks suspicious as this happens when she is runing the best times of her life.

Another BBC article claims that over 70 athletes have missed out of season tests.

If they are aware that they can miss 2 tests without any penalty as long as they make the third, surely this leaves the whole system open for cheating.

but would the media or other enthusiasts for that matter.........and thats not the main problem.....its the 'non-tested' olympics that will cause the fuss
