Hi
That is somewhat of a vague question. In essence there are a multitude of reasons, a few of which are listed here:
Age
Lean muscle to fat ratio
Training status
Training experience
Training methods
Fiber type predominance
Reaction time
Strength status
Power output
Mechanical efficiency of motion
Mechanical efficiency of movement
Coordination
Agility
Neuromuscular firing rates
Neuromuscular firing codes
Neuromuscular recruitment
Once you begin to narrow these down a tad you will have a closer idea of the answer to your question.

ok ill explain it differently, i particpated in a standing broad jump test that measures explosive power, i recorded my result then compared it to the NORM tables for that test, when looking at my score and comparing it to NORMS my score was poor, so i just wondered does anyone know any reasons why i may have scored such a poor score. thks

See above for a few of the reasons why you may not have scored as high as you wished on the test. The good news is most are trainable.

Another reason may have been you were just not having a strong day.

Some days are better than others.
