Hi Everyone.
I am a 4ft 11 and half inches, 25 year old and 127.5lbs. I would like to give you some background on my problem. I am trying to lose weight and not losing any I work out at least 5 days a wk – on each day I run on average 6 miles a day I then do another 30 mins cardio or else a spin class for an hour (that’s 2 hours of vigorous work out a day). I also include some weight training 3 days a wk on top of the cardio. I always really push myself during my workout and raise my heart-rate I am totally drenched by the time I leave the gym. From what I have read with my height and weight and my weight loss goal i should be on 1165 cal a day diet to lose 1-2 lbs per wk. I have been working out constantly for over three months and have not lost any weight. I understand muscle weighs more than fat but at this stage I feel i should have lost something. My job is moderately active I am a PE teacher. So I decided to go to a nutritioist and he told me I wasnt eating enought food for what I was doing. he has told me to cut my cardio down to one Hr per day 5 days per wk and to cut out all weights. But I have a problem with that the weights I do keep my heart rate elevated and work on two muscle groups at a time.
He says I have enought muscle I have always been told that you do some weights to keep your metabolism up and also if I lose weight it will be harder to tighten up all the lose skin.
I just dont know what to do as cutting out weight go against everything I have ever been told by fitness experts. He has told me to eat some more starches aswell and has told me how much starch protein etc I should eat at each meal.
I hope someone can give me some good advice because im prepared to do what he says its just the weights thing is bothering me.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

Hi Kjkarenjane,

Did you have your body fat percentage measured? It's a much better tool to figure out how much your body really needs to lose instead of using the scale weight and your height.

Do you feel fatigued or lethargic at all? Because you do so much activity, your body may be in a state of overtraining. When stress levels are high, it can stop people from dropping excess body fat and results plateau.

For most people, I would NOT cut out resistance training as it does have very important metabolic effects.

My favourite nutrition system is Precision Nutrition. In this program they cover everything you possibly need to know to get your body in the shape you want.

Hope that helps.
