I'm looking for some advice on starting a martial art. I have been facinated with this area for some years but don't know where to start. I'm looking for something challenging but complimentory to my other athlectic aims (currently getting back into fittness for a possible end of season return to throwing). I have much flexibilty, am 5'10 and weigh 12 stone. My weak area is core stability (havnig had 5 stress fractures etc) but my strength lies in the power of my legs (eg leg press 200kg+).

Any advice/web info would be grately appreciated!

Living near croydon myself, I found out about a few centres from friends and collegues.

I think this was one of the centres which has website and contact details www.martialartinstitute.com

There were also some in Sutton which were very good too for beginners. Cannot remember the names but the yellow pages listed a few.
