The gym i manage runs a strength training program for seniors (over 50's).

It has been suggested to me that when strength training seniors in pparticular, should increase their consumption of protein.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter? and if so what sort of increase should they be looking at and why?

I read a journal article recently whilst browsing but did not take note of it as it was not what I was looking for......however, the crux of it was that even with VERY moderate protein intakes, senior trainers gained significant amounts of strength.

To be honest, as long as they are consuming 'enough' protein, I would not see any need to increase it.

Making sure adequate protein is consumed is a neccesity but as I have said increasing it as one would with someone trying to add lean muscle is probably not as much of an issue :)
