high... anyone knows about reactive jumps??? theyre high intensity lower body plyo workout....where u drop off a height then quickly jumping as high as u can....u can use a 24"-42" box height....and im doing it in a 35" box height now and im wondering how u can determine the maximum height i can go...wat effects ill get if the height is too high....
im also having to whether ill chose box jumps or this....im very active this summer, lots of games so i can only do one or ill get some knee problems... in my box jumps -jumping from a box height to another much higher height....i do 1st box hgt(18") to 2nd box hgt(32")...in box jumps i cannot increase the height anymore coz im doing it in the basement and if i increase the height my heads is gonna hit the low ceiling...lolz
so w/c is the most effective plyo workout....reactive jumps or box jumps?? or for me wat best should i use...reactive jumps and go to 40" or box jumps give u much greater gains even though at a lower height...plss tell me also wat other heights i can use for box jumps, maybe a higher 1st box also can give me bonuses..tnx

cant help you out much. But i recently tore my medial meniscus cartilidge doing box jumps! so take care!

Verhoshanski (Russian Sports Scientist) speaks of not limiting the height of rebound jumps - using 110 cm for some athletes. Saying that, these athletes were highly trained and skilled with years of practice and a excellent strength base.
Make sure you are doing adequate strength training prior to this type of work.
With your box jumps, are you rebounding on the floor before you jump on to the next box? If so, there is very little difference of between the two exercises. They are both reactive strength - looking at spending least amount of time of floor. Look at proper foot mechanics too - dorsi-flexing ankle so to get midfoot strike rather than toe strike or heel strike.
Max box height

First you need to determine the max height you can reach in a no approach jump with both feet. Make marks on a wall. Do this for your first 3 jumps. Get your boxes, rebound and mark your reach agaisnt the same wall. You should use the box height that lets you rebound and still reach the highest you can reach with no box, no approach two feet jump. If you rebound and can't get to your mark then the box is too high.
