I have trained very hard in the off-season to gain muscle mass for rugby. However I am concerned that once the season begins that a significant portion of this will be metabolised.
What is the best in-season techniques to keep my gains??
I understand that a maintenance weights program should be undertaken, and sufficient calories are crucial, but if someone could give me some solid advice it would be much appreciated.
Previously I have attempted to continue building during the season, and looking back, all it has achieved is a feeling of heavy legs, and fatigue. (This was doing my heavy lifts on a monday in order to recover for a match on the saturday).
