I've got a 200m race coming up on Friday week, just wondering what there is i can do to improve my fitness for this?
I've thought of running every morning and putting in 20 mins on the rowing machine, my stamina isn't brilliant just wondered what the best way to prepare for it in the given time would be?
Thanks

You wont make significant gains in 10 days knowing that you will need to taper performance to this event. Some of my athletes spend 10 days tapering for an event so you have not left yourself much time to make progress.
The worst thing you could do is start training aerobically as you are a sprint/anaerobic athlete. All you will serve to do is alter metabolic pathways possibly resulting in even worse performance.
Personally, if you have not got the speed endurance, you need to train to so that you are working at near max speeds over short distances with little recovery. Completing 5-6 50m sprints with 30-60sec recovery will start to develop speed endurance while still maintaining speed. Although this is an example, the benefits of this so close to an event maybe negliable.
Working on technique (starts, bend running) maybe more advisable as the physical demand is less than metabolic training.
I am sure others will give advice on optimal nutrition as well.

Thanks for all that advice everyone!
I understand I've left it late, i did have 4 weeks but I was recently struck with a chest infection and was told not to excercise by my doctor so I'm just looking to make the most of the time I've still got left.
Brilliant advance on the bends, I wasn't even going to think about that so thanks for the advice!
I'll get down to some solid practising in the meantime :)

If this is not the last race of the season (only just started in the UK), then you have got time to make up for some of the lost ground from the infection you had. You can aim for a realistic goal further into the season. You may not make the progress you want, but you will still make progress.
Look at the next mahor meet and see if you can develop your training for that competition and not worry too much about this one (if there are more to come).
