Hello

I am wanting to lose weight, basically on Monday I weighed 99.1 (the start of the diet/ exercise).

I have just got weighed today (Friday) and weigh 99.8.

Now, is it usual to increase within the first week?

Please help, as this is quite de-motivating.

I 'diet' quite a lot and i have found this on occasions. At times I will lose 2-6lbs in the first week and other times, like you, i will gain weight. There are a number of reasons it can be.

It all depends on your starting point and also (how accurate your first reading was). Were you weighed in the morning before food/water, same clothes, time, amount of sleep, hydration level?

If you were coming from a poor diet then you may have increased fibre in your system through consuming the right foods. You may also have been carb depleted etc etc etc.

There is nothing to worry about, see how it goes this week and take it from there.

Dear Paynay,
Gaing about 7 pounds isn't such a bad thing. Don't worry so much about your weight because it will pretty much wear off. And if you are still in your growing process, then usually all of your fat goes to your height. Don't worry about your weight to much, because that causes too much stress, and if people are calling you fat, then ignore them. 99.8 pounds isnt so bad. So don't worry and grow strong.
