Hi Mojo Jojo--
Exercises that are similar to the movement of the triple jump will be helpful.
Some of these would be: line hops, line bounces, rocket jumps, skips for height, skips for distance, and bunny jumps. You should be able to find videos on youtube for any of these you don't know how to do. The distances you can jump and your endurance will increase over time.
Also, get in the gym and do things like squats, leg curls, leg extensions.
Your age will have an effect on intensity/duration/frequency of workouts.
Got get 'em!

Welcome IBDahMan and thank you very much for your post, very helpful :) Do you do the triple jump yourself, or do you specialise in something else?

Hi Electron Blue--
I used to triple jump back in high school. I wish a lot of the things I currently know were available back then, but that was a long time ago!
I am currently focusing on sprints--60m, 100m, 200m.
There are a number of similarities between triple jumping and sprinting, so the exercises I listed above are good for both.
Both require explosiveness and power-sprinters need these qualities to get out of the blocks quickly. Triple jumpers need explosiveness and power to get maximum distance.

There is a lot of good stuff here but with Triple Jump being one of the events that is hardest on the body you need to ensure that you build basic strength in your legs & joints, including hips. Also do a lot of preventative stretches and exercises for shin splints.
It is hard to give specific advice on appropriate exercises without knowing your age or physical development.
If you don't build up the basics first then you will end up with injuries. Plyometrics, like depth drops and even bounding are high intensity and should be worked up to. In one article I have read on plyometrics it is recommended that even for higher performing athletes that only 35-50 plyometric 'steps/jumps' are done in a training session.
My son has been doing triple jump for 3 years and I still do not have him doing high intensity plyometrics because he does not have the necessary leg muscle & joint strength to cope with depth drops etc.
