Interval Training?

I have a client who continually reads the latest trends in exercise and fitness. She mostly gets her information from the internet and fitness magazines. She often has questions about the pros and cons of interval training as it's been highlighted quite a bit lately. I usually take her through interval training workouts as I feel they are the most effective form of training to meet her goals. I've explained to her the benefits but I'd love to have another viewpoint to give her as far as what interval training technically is and what it can do for the average exercisers looking to lose weight and increase his/her fitness level. Any current info. would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

TBH I`m more of a fan of Tabats/Tabatas as these have a greater effect of strengthening the heart and also have a nice side line of increasing natural GH output leading to increased muscle mass or reductions in bodyfat.
