Olympic Chances: Despite her dominance in the Heptathlon, Carolina Kluft will not go into the Olympics as favourite to win the women’s long jump. Competition will be intense and there are plenty of medal contenders, most notably the two Russians, Tatyana Lebedeva and Lyudmila Kolchanova, and Portuguese jumper Naide Gomes. However with her wealth of Olympic experience and proven winning mentality Kluft will still be in contention and it would not be too surprising to see her finish on the podium.
