Other than in the 2007 World Swimming Championships, where he competed despite suffering from illness, Hackett has been dominant in the men’s 1500m since 1999. Hackett, the captain of the Australian swimming team, will also look to compete in both the men’s 200m and 400m freestyle events and will try to significantly improve on his performance in Athens where he failed to make the podium. Outside of swimming Hackett is a known Motor Racing enthusiast.
