About Katie Hoff: Hoff’s achievements in the women’s swimming field are equivalent to Michael Phelps achievements in the men’s. At just 19 years of age, Hoff is the world record holder in the women's 400m Individual Medley and is in contention for several gold medals at the forthcoming Beijing Olympics. Hoff made her Olympic debut in Athens at the age of 15 and reached the final of the 200m and 400m individual medley but failed to win a medal in either race. Following this disappointment, Hoff made her mark at the 2005 World Swimming Championships where she won three gold medals. Her impressive form has continued and in the 2007 World Championships Hoff repeated her 2005 success, with three gold medals in the 200m IM, 400m IM and the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay, and setting a world record in the 400m individual medley in the process.
