Liu Xiang is the favourite to win gold in the 110m hurdles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics but will face stiff opposition from Cuban hurdler Dayron Robles. His popularity in China is partly due to the fact that his gold medal in Athens was the first Olympic gold medal ever won by a Chinese male in athletics. His top 3 finish also ended a twenty year baron spell of medals for the Chinese in track and field events.

However this season Xiang has been blighted by injury and although he is expected to be fully fit, Robles has been dominating the 110m hurdles breaking the world record in June at the Ostrava Grand Prix. Robles form and Xiang’s ability combined with his home advantage should set up a tantalising finale.

ETHIC AND OLYMPIC GAMES

The best thing in olympic games is that you can see, all together, white and black, Chinese, Japanese, American, German, Argentinian, African, and so on. One can have a good picture of our Planet.

I know it could be better, in terms of relationships, but there, at the olympics, they fight under rules, and the stronger, the faster, the most prepared wins. You may count it for sure.
