Olympic Chances: Four years on from his disappointment in Athens and sprinter Bolt is now the red hot favourite to scoop a gold medal in the 200m final. The tag of ‘favourite’ has only been strengthened by the failure of Tyson Gay to qualify, and having run a recent season’s best of 19.67 seconds Bolt does not seem to have an immediate rival for the gold medal.
The 100m final however, will prove a much tighter race with Bolt facing stiff competition from Tyson Gay and fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell, who recently defeated him in Stockholm. Bolt currently holds the 100m world record following his impressive display at the Reebok Grand Prix but his inexperience in the event means he is by no means the clear favourite and will have to reproduce a similar performance if he is to achieve double gold in Beijing.
