About Yelena Isinbayeva: Isinbayeva has been dominant in this event since her gold medal in the 2004 Athens Olympics and is widely regarded as the best female pole vaulter in history. Since her victory, Isinbayeva has been setting and breaking her own world records with no serious threats to her title. Her record is formidable having set 23 world records and winning eight gold medals in a row since her triumph in Athens. She has also been twice voted the International Association of Athletics Federation’s Female Athlete of the Year. Outside of competitive pole vaulting, Isinbayeva is studying to become a Physical Educator and owns a unique collection of model dolphins.
