I just graduated high school and now have started college. I want to study exercise science and later become an exercise physiologist. I also would like to continue my soccer career into college, but i need a new way of training. Need help
what are your goals? do you want to be a great squater? if so squat it is very hard to hit many targets, cycle your training and have one goal in mind ie strength next cycle speed so on so forth.
I am one for enjoying fitness persuits. Although I believe most any
physical feats are possible, there is always a risk involved. I'd say
with your running ability, I would not want to risk injury. Squatting
is a weight bearing compound (and complex) move. I firmly believe
the effort to squat 500lb is not worth the risk. I think what you are
able to squat is pretty impressive.
I am new in the field of fitness training as a personal and group fitness
trainer. I am bound by my profession to be certain clients work - out
safely as priority 1. Also, I've heard too often from many a runner that
they are not able to run anymore, or have had 7 knee operations (that
one was just yesterday). Their biggest disappointment is that they are
unable to run as good as they use to, or cannot run at all anymore.
Thank you for the replies. My goal is either to play college football or soccer as kicker in football i would like to win the trust of my players by being able to not only kick but play the game of football like any other player not just my kicking ability. I am at college right now working on a general AA and i would like to seek a degree in exercise science and someday become a big name strength and conditioning coach or a high school football or soccer coach one day.
As a kicker you will need power. you achieve power by moving weight thru a distance in certain amount of time. So lifting 500 lbs. and taking you forever to do one rep will not get it done. That training regime will work for about a month and a half and then you will get stuck.
Solution
Find a weight about 50% of your 1 rep max. You want to do as many reps as fast as you can without compromising form or reaching failure under a certain amount of time. 30 seconds is a good mark. Do that for 4 weeks. take a week off. for the next 4 weeks increase the weight lifted by 5 % and cut the time down to 20 sec. do as many reps as fast as you can without compromising form or reaching failure. Eat healthy and sleep 8hrs a day.
