He has been coaching since 1965 and for more than 20 years has been writing coaching advice for Runners World and its prededessors. The athletes he has coached include Richard Nerurkar, winner of the 1993 World Cup Marathon, Mike Boit of Kenya, Commonwealth Games 800m winner, American cross-country champion Nnenna Lynch and two members of the current British cross-country team, as well as dozens of others at all levels. He is author of more than a dozen books about running and fitness.
