Ladder Drill: One Foot in Each Rung
The most simple of ladder drills can be used for beginners and young athletes to teach them about moving quickly. The ladder drill can also be used to teach running mechanics. This ladder drill is easily mastered and improvements can be made in a short period of time.

Athletic Position
Be good to get a video of the athletic position set as it is used in all your ladder and agility exercises. It warrents attention in its self

Posture
I've been looking at the posture of both myself and our athletes when they run through ladders. I think there is a tendency to hunch over, as shown in the video. I don't think this is a good practice. Most of our runners run on the fells or orienteer. We teach them that they need to focus on the ground 3-4 metres in front when running across rough terrain. I have found that if you get them to start several metres behind the ladder, and run through with their gaze point well in front their posture is better.
Any comments?
Ladder drill
Athlete videoed has butt sticking out - natural reaction to this is reduced stride length (try it by taking step forward with hips high then do again with hips back and see the difference. Suggest having athletes walk through ladder first, concentrating on being tall, hips high before going through as a running drill to practise correct technique. Then go to running, but still with a focus on running tall.
Weird enough, I realized I
Weird enough, I realized I don't have a vertical ladder around the house so I have nothing to practice this with. Do you think I'll get the same results if I do it with a normal household ladder?
