Lifting belts
He touches on a couple of good points, like the differences between the belts, albeit a very brief overview. Then at the end he just barely gets into a common mistake I see of people who just walk around and do their entire workout with a belt just wrapped around their waist. I've researched it and follow the generally accepted principle that belts should mostly be used for near max lifts. And then they should be worn tight enough that when your done with the lift you have to take it off, or at least loosen it. If not, then you're not wearing it tight enough to really help you.
The lifting belt
Hi there,
You are entirely right about the use of the belt however, the thrust of the video was the differences in the belts.
I've seen men and women in the gyms using belts for all exercises. I do agree somewhat that the belt may serve a purpose in maximum lifts. In general I do not use nor recommend the use of belts in training. I want the trainee’s body to develop the strength necessary to support the load and not rely on an external artificial aid such as the belt.
As a side note, my trainees have set world, national and state records without the use of a belt.
